I been trying to record some previously unrecorded tunes that I've written. This one was written in 2015 and has gone through a few different iterations.
Lost Face

This tune started out as an exercise on addressing Major7#5 chords. That tonality continues to fascinate me because of it’s inbetween-like nature. It’s not exactly resolved but not quite unresolved either. I’m pretty sure I wrote the chord progression first, then the melody and then the bass line. It reminds me a bit of some Wayne Shorter tunes from the “Night Dreamer” era. The title is a reference to a particularly brutal short story by Jack London that I’d recently read.
